March 4th 2006 - a cold night and two teams from our Unit joined 39 others to compete in the annual Surrey Explorer Scout Night Challenge.
This year's Challenge was centred around Broadstone Warren campsite in deepest Sussex and consisted of two parts: an orienteering course around the site and an incident hike through the surrounding countryside.
Our two teams were novices in this event and started the event in high spirits and with hopes of completing the event. A few hours and some navigation errors later they decided to call it quits and head for their tents and get some sleep.
Our teams came 37th and 40th. It was great that so many participated and who knows how they will do next year.
