8 of our Explorer Scouts headed to the Surrey Hills for their practice Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Expedition.
Over the preceeding weeks the Explorers had planned their route and menu, been to Tescos to buy the food and practised their navigation and compass work. The two teams were dropped at various locations around Guildford for the start of their Hike to Bentley Copse.
The Hike highlighted a few issues with certain people's navigation but by about 5pm both teams had arrived at the county campsite near Shere -Bentley Copse. On Sunday the teams headed to Martha's mount and Newlands Corner for their pickups.
The Unit are working towards achieving their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh and Platinum Chief Scout awards by the end of this year.
